It may seem like the heat of mid-summer might not be the best time to view wildlife, but a recent visit to Custer State Park and Wind Cave National Park in the Southern Black Hills proved differently. Buffalo, deer, antelope and even normally-shy bull elk were readily visible from the roadside.
Remember that approaching wildlife can be dangerous to both you and the animals. These photos were taken with telephoto lenses and/or from the safety of a vehicle. Click on each photo to view them larger.
