The Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant “The First Four Years,” is gearing up for another summer pageant on the prairie. Each July, the Laura Ingalls Wilder pageant in De Smet, South Dakota, displays the life of Laura Ingalls Wilder, and her friends and family.

This year the pageant dates are:
        July 9, 10, and 11
        July 16, 17, and 18
        July 23, 24, and 25

This is a perfect family activity – it is fun for all ages. Take grandma, grandpa, and the whole gang out to watch the pageant on a nice summer evening. A few tips about the pageant – there is seating available, but feel free to bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. Remember to pack some layers, the warm sun feels good until it sets – it cools down fast on the prairies of South Dakota! Snacks, souvenirs, and programs are all available on site. After the pageant, don’t leave right away – stick around to visit with the performers.

The gates open at 7:00 p.m., and the pageant beings at 9:00 p.m. Come early to let the kids enjoy a free wagon ride, shop, enjoy snacks, take some fun family photos, and get a good spot!

Tickets are $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. Kids five and under are free.
